The talented trio -
Nishika Kumbhat, Lakshita Singh and Anoushka Ghosh escorted with Ms Reena Mishra and beautifully trained by Mrs Sandhya Mudgal, Ms Reena Mishra Suranjana Banerjee Ghosh, blossomed amidst intellectual giants at the 8th Mohinder Memorial Turncoat Debate, graciously hosted by Pinegrove School, Solan from August 27th to 29th, 2025. Thirteen of India’s esteemed schools unfurled their colours in this cerebral garden, making the contest a mosaic of eloquence and wit.
Each debater was allotted topics blooming with contemporary relevance. Nishika passionately argued the motion- "THBT India should adopt one nation, one election policy", “यह सभा मानती है कि भारत को ‘एक राष्ट्र, एक चुनाव’ की नीति अपनानी चाहिए”. Weaving her speech seamlessly in Hindi and English, Lakshita illuminated the dais with her thoughts on, "THBT the same standards of educational and character verification and retirement should be applied to the politicians as in any other Government service", “यह सभा मानती है कि राजनेताओं पर भी वही शैक्षणिक, चरित्र प्रमाणन और सेवानिवृत्ति के मानक लागू होने चाहिए, जैसे किसी अन्य सरकारी सेवा में होते हैं।” demonstrating a rare symmetry of ideas and languages. Their oratory, both crisp and mellifluous, combined with Anoushka Ghosh’s brilliant on-the-spot research that greatly strengthened her team's arguments and got them into the prestigious final round.
In the final round, the topic—"AI in surveillance is a violation of fundamental rights", challenged participants to probe the root of technological ethics. With poise and conviction,
Nishika Kumbhat unfurled her arguments, ultimately securing the Consolation Prize (5th position) in the individual category.
