A classical dance demonstration along with a lecture by Ms Arupa Lahiry was organised in the school auditorium Badan Rang Shala on 30 April 2024. This educative demonstration was attended by students of grades VII, VIII and IX.
The event started with the lightening of the lamp which was followed by the introduction of the reverend classical dancer, Ms Arupa Lahiry who is the recipient of prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy award.
Ms Arupa Lahiry performed gracefully along with her team of accompanists Shri Venkateshwaran Kuppuswamy, Shri Aditya Rajagopalan, Shri Satish Seshadri and Ms Chirmy Acharya, enthralling every audience present in the auditorium. She gave a lecture on the dance form Bharatanatyam explaining mudras, expressions and dance movement with grace and simplicity. The auditorium was spellbound by her mesmerizing performance as she performed the classical dance in the purest form one after the other tirelessly. Her dance was a treat to watch and for that she received a standing ovation from the audience.
An interactive session between the students and the performer was the highlight of the event wherein the students asked her many questions and she answered each one of them with smile and conviction.
The event ended with Ms Arupa Lahiry and her team being felicitated with a token of love and appreciation by Mrs Indra Shaktawat, the Dean of Activities and Mrs Neeta Johari, Dean Academic Juniors.
