To commemorate the 568th Foundation Day of Jodhpur and the Centenary Birth Anniversary of Rajmata Sahiba, the Mehrangarh Museum Trust (MMT) and the Jodhpur Foundation Day Samiti planned an Essay Writing and Painting Competition in different schools of the city. As planned, on 18 April 2026, the event was organized at Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Painting by Art Department and Essay by Ms. Suranjana Banerjee Ghosh.
It was the beginning of an extraordinary experience—an opportunity to witness Jodhpur through the eyes of its future generations. The theme of the painting competition was “Jodhpur” and giving students complete freedom to explore the city’s essence. The Essay Competition was equally inspiring. For Classes VI - VIII, the theme “The Sun City: Life in the Heart of Jodhpur” brought out heartfelt tributes to everyday life. For Classes IX - XII, the topic “My Vision of the Future of the Blue City” encouraged a forward-looking imagination. Their words painted a living portrait of the city, not just as a place but as an experience.
The 568th Foundation Day of Jodhpur was commemorated on 12th May 2026 at Marwar International Centre with profound reverence and exuberant celebration. The venerable Mehrangarh Fort, whose cornerstone was solemnly laid by Rao Jodha on 12th May 1459, the celebration was jointly organized by the District Administration and the Department of Tourism and included a series of cultural performances, award presentations, and recognition of distinguished contributions across various fields. Eighteen eminent individuals from diverse fields, who have rendered remarkable contributions to society, were honored with the Marwar Ratan Samman.
Students of classes VI to XII from RKKGPS enthusiastically participated in both Essay and Painting Competition and Fifty shortlisted meritorious students, were lauded for their exceptional accomplishments and were graciously presented certificates of distinction by the Chief Guest, His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji and Her Highness Maharani Sahiba. The 568th Jodhpur Foundation Day seamlessly wove together the threads of tradition, cultural pride, and individual excellence, culminating in an occasion that was both memorable and inspiring for all attendees.
