On 29th January 2025 a highly informative and engaging session on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene” took place at Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School by Ms. Sarita Luhar.
The session began with a video presentation that depicted a young girl’s journey through puberty, highlighting the physical and emotional changes that occur during this critical phase of life. The video provided a clear and relatable explanation of puberty, making it easier for the young audience to understand the changes they might be experiencing or will soon experience.
The detailed explanation of why periods occur was particularly enlightening, as it demystified a natural biological process that is often surrounded by confusion and misconceptions. After that she provided essential information on the correct use of sanitary napkins. She demonstrated the proper technique for using sanitary pads and also briefed about hygienic practices during mensuration. This practical guidance was invaluable for the young girls, many of whom might be new to managing their menstrual health. Ms . Sarita addressed common myths and provided scientifically accurate information to dispel these false beliefs. This segment empowered the girls with knowledge, enabling them to approach menstruation with confidence and without fear or embarrassment.
The lecture concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. She patiently and thoroughly answered all the questions posed by the girls, ensuring that their doubts were clarified and they felt supported.
To conclude the event on a practical note, sanitary pads and stickers were distributed to all the attendees, reinforcing the importance of menstrual hygiene and providing them with the necessary resources.
