On
2 September 2026, SAI International Residential School hosted a thought-provoking Round Square Zoom Postcard exploring the question, “The Gap Year: Is It a Right or a Privilege?” The session invited students to look beyond the conventional academic pathway and consider what a year away from formal education could mean for learning, personal growth, exploration and future choices.
The discussion encouraged participants to examine both sides of the debate. A gap year can offer opportunities to develop new skills, gain practical experiences and discover personal interests, while access to such opportunities may also depend on financial resources, family support and individual circumstances. The postcard provided a valuable platform for students to question the idea of a one-size-fits-all educational journey and recognise that learning can take place both inside and outside the classroom. The engaging discussion encouraged thoughtful reflection on making informed choices and widening access to meaningful learning experiences.
