SPIC MACAY PERFORMANCE BY DHARAVI DREAMS

The Dharavi Dream Project: Where Talent Meets Resilience

On 19th August 2026, Rkkians of classes VIII to X and Boarders of XI and XII along with their teacher incharges had the privilege of witnessing an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation by Dharavi Dreams, an after-school hip-hop initiative launched in 2014 to provide young people from Dharavi with a safe and creative platform to express themselves through music, dance and the performing arts. Coming from one of the largest slum communities of Asia, these young artists have transformed their struggles and challenges into stories of hope, ambition and resilience. Their journey beautifully reflected the spirit behind their name—Dharavi Dreams, where talent meets dreams.

The artists did not merely perform; they spoke their language through dance, music and movement. Truely, they are the changemakers who use art to tell stories that deserve to be heard. Their play was particularly powerful because it was based on real-life experiences and stories of the artists themselves. It took them nearly seven months to script and develop the play, transforming lived experiences of hardship, challenges, aspirations and dreams into a compelling theatrical production. The presentation at RKK was the 19th show of this remarkable play.

The performance was an extraordinary blend of English and Hindi rap, beatboxing, hip-hop, dance, storytelling, humour, horror, laughter, creativity and spectacular stunts. Every element kept the audience engaged and demonstrated the versatility and confidence of the young performers. Their stories urged us to listen, believe and celebrate the voices of young changemakers who dare to dream. As the artists reminded us through their powerful performance, dreams become meaningful when courage, creativity and determination turn them into action.

One of the most moving moments was when each member wore the hat placed at the centre of the stage and stepped forward to share their own story—their struggles, their aspirations, what they wished to become in the future, and their desire to make their parents happy. This simple yet powerful act transformed the stage into a space where every young artist could be heard and understood. It reminded the audience that behind every performance lies a personal story, a dream and a determination to create a better future.

The team comprised B-Boy Bhimrao, B-Boy Rudraj, B-Girl Ritika, B-Girl Suhani, B-Girl Nikita, B-Boy Faisal, B-Boy Shubham, BBX Chandan, B-Boy Ramesh, B-Boy Mohan, B-Boy Satya, Harshit and BBX Kunal. Their passion, confidence and sincerity left a lasting impression on everyone present.

The mentors—Asha Gandhi, Dimple Jain, Aman Jaiswar, Divisha Gandhi, Shimli Basu, Kunal Kunchikorve, Dolly Rateshwar and Writer-Director Neha Singh—were applauded, acknowledged and felicitated for their dedication to nurture young voices and provide them with a platform where talent can flourish.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Ira Sisodia and Desert Leaf foundation, Ms. Neha Singh and the entire production team for making this enriching experience possible for RKK.

Dharavi Dreams left the stage with a profound message: circumstances may shape our journey, but they need not define our dreams.
