THE ASSAM VALLEY SCHOOL, INDIA (RS ZOOM POSTCARD)

The Assam Valley School hosted an engaging and interactive RS Postcard on 19th August 2026 the topic “Too Cool to Care: The Rise of Nonchalance and Its Effect on Popular Culture”. The session explored the growing trend of nonchalance and its influence on young people, while also examining how media and popular culture shape our perceptions, thoughts, attitudes and mindsets. Chelsi*, Akansha Udawat*, Trisha Choudhary*, Bhagyashree Rathore*, Anita Choudhary* and Komal* with their Teacher Incharge Priyal Chouhan comprised RKK’s team.

The participants were introduced to the concept of nonchalance and discussed how appearing calm, detached, or “unbothered” has increasingly become associated with being cool and confident. After the introduction, the participants took part in an interactive game, which created an energetic and friendly atmosphere. The activity encouraged everyone to participate and interact with one another. The participants were then divided into different groups. In their respective groups, they introduced themselves, got to know each other and participated in various games and activities. They also discussed the main topic and exchanged their opinions and experiences.

The group discussions focused on questions such as whether people are genuinely nonchalant or whether they sometimes pretend not to care in order to appear confident or “cool.” The participants also discussed the influence of social media, films, music, celebrities, memes, and other forms of popular culture on the way young people think, behave, and express their emotions. Towards the end of the session, one representative from each group was chosen to explain what had happened in their group. The representatives shared the activities they had participated in, the discussions they had held, and the ideas and opinions that emerged within their groups.

This allowed everyone to understand the different perspectives developed during the session. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the host, expressing gratitude to all the participants and everyone who contributed to making the RS Postcard successful.
