THE SANSKAAR VALLEY SCHOOL, BHOPAL (IPSC DRAMA FEST 2024)

Amidst the lively atmosphere of culture and spirited competition, a delegation of 10 theatrical minds - Adwitiya Saxena, Subhadra Kumari, Dhruvi Mehta, Bhakti Babani, Samridhi Bang, Esha Thadhani, Nitya Parihar, Achal Roop Kaur, Eshal Bindra & Sneha Sankhla with their Teacher Escorts Ms Neetu Parihar & Mr Yatheesh Kasaragod, embarked upon a journey to attend the All-India IPSC Drama Fest hosted by the prestigious The Sanskaar Valley School, Bhopal. Some of the major participating schools were The Emerald Heights’ International School Indore, Daly College Indore, Mayo College Girls’ School Ajmer, Welham Girls’ School Dehradun, Welham Boys’ School Dehradun, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya Gwalior, Scindia Fort Gwalior and Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School Jodhpur.  The event commenced with grandeur on July 18th, beginning with a hearty breakfast followed by the stage rehearsals. On the same day we had an illuminating Opening Ceremony that set the stage for the first event: THE MAGICAL PROP. In this event, one participant from each school had to use one property as five different props, without naming them while doing 5 different roleplays.

Day 2 began with the Hasya Samagam in which we had to select a Comedy Play from the World of Theatre and Literature and present a Comedy Play woven around its circumstances. On the same evening, we had the event of ADAKAAR the Soliloquy. In this event one participant from each participating school had to prepare a Soliloquy of the character from any play from the World of Theatre. Day 2 ended with a game of ‘Guess the Famous Character’ or ‘Guess the Song’ followed by a filling dinner. On the third day, the participating teams were  to showcase their skills in the toughest event yet, that is the BUNKAR or the Story Maker, Here, they were presented with ten random words, out of which they had to choose three and weave a 5 min play revolving around and using those words in the time limit of 90 min.

Sometime around that evening itself, the participants were taken out for a City Tour to an artistic Tribal Museum. Next was the Cultural Night and Principal’s Dinner where everyone enjoyed themselves fully and had gotten the formal IPSC Drama Fest 2024 picture clicked. The fourth day started off with the Strings of Shakespeare, where 5 characters of the famous playwright were to be placed in a different setting than their original play. 5 acts had already been presented the day before, and marvelous performances were showcased by many schools. Noon came around to put an end to this amazing Fest and we then had the Closing Ceremony. The prizes were awarded to various schools there and with great pride and privilege, I would like to share with you that RKK’s team won ‘Outstanding Performance’ in both the Comedy Play and Strings of Shakespeare, accompanied by a Special Mention in the Magical Props- making our team the Second Overall Winner, right after the host school itself.
