“We live in the world where food security and access to nourishment are fundamental rights. So let us break bread together, not only to satisfy our hunger but to nourish our souls and foster a world where every breath is sustained by the warmth and sustenance of bread."

Round Square Postcard Call on the theme, “Bread for every breath” was organized by The British School, New Delhi on 26th May 2023 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. The event started with the brief introduction of the host school along with the warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing on the significance of the theme. This was followed by a mesmerizing presentation by the host which provided a visual representation of the significance of bread in addressing global food security, food distribution and food waste management etc. The host also enlightened the participants about the nutritional value of bread, that is, it should contain valuable source of carbohydrates, fiber, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Thereafter, participants were sent to the Barraza groups in which many questions were discussed. The participants discussed about world hunger, employment in agriculture industry, the successful examples of bread-related initiatives or programs that have addressed food security challenges, and how one should learn from these experiences and many more topics were discussed. Apart from discussion, the host cross questioned with the participants to get a better perspective.

After the Barraza groups, a representative delegate from each Barraza group gave an insight into the subtopics that were discussed in their rooms. The event ended with the presentation (pre-work) of every school that participated along with the vote of thanks by the host school. The participants engaged in productive discussions, sharing insights and ideas relevant to the topic “Bread for every breath”. Somya Singh, Charvi Abba, Bhavya Singh Rawat, Demira Bhati, Neha Ladha, Manvi Rathi along with their student adult incharge Deeksha Garg grabbed the opportunity to participate in this fantabulous event.
