CATE SCHOOL, USA (RS ZOOM POSTCARD)

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experiences to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” Eleanor Roosevelt

This was exactly the aim and mission when a delegation of seven students, Mayurakshi Nathawat, Aadyaa Vivek, Priyal Jain, Anadya Jain, Gauree Singh, Virika Mehta, Gauree Singh with their Student Adult Incharge - Prachi Jain attended the International RS Postcard hosted by Cate School, USA, on 19 April at 8:30pm(IST). Delegates went on with a mind of zeal and vigor to participate in this global event consisting of 24 schools from 10 countries. The conference was about “Immigration in a Global Context.” where participants were initially introduced to the concept by the host school from an American perspective. The key terms of Immigration, Migration and Refugee were described in detail to get a deeper understanding of the idea as a whole. Students were also immersed into the history of American Immigration, which started out as a very one-sided act, but later on developed into a more inclusive opportunity. After a brief introduction of the aforementioned topics, delegates were then divided into breakout groups for a more personal and heavier conversation. As a group, students tackled very thought provoking questions about Immigration by mentioning their own stories and also discussing on current issues. By the end of the breakout rooms all the participants had reached the consensus of Immigration becoming a human right, but with better implementation of its policies throughout the world. Finally every team expressed their gratitude towards the host school and Round Square, having had meaningful conversations, thoughtful ideas, a whole new take on the topic and obviously making new friendships.
