DOON SCHOOL - RESILIENCE

“Resilience is accepting your new reality, even if it's less good than the one you had before.” “Just bouncing back from the toxic , ugly past you had and putting a bandage on it and then move on and bounce back to a pretty , beautiful reality.”

Four students of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School -Suhani Baheti, Gauri Baxi, Lauren Bishnoi  and  Mumal Deora, participated in the RS Postcard  Call  hosted by “The Doon School , Dehradun”. The topic for the two hour long Conference was  “Well Being of Students In The Pandemic and Otherwise”. A week before the Conference, participants were  asked to share a  picture with their loved ones, whom they adore, without whom they can't live, the ones who supported them  in the “Lockdown” etc.  Students were asked to name the picture with just one “word” which described the whole relationship ..

The Conference started on 11th August 2020. There was a Workshop moderated by Mr Raghav Mishra after formal welcome by the Headmaster, Dr Jagpreet Singh. There was an address by the School Counselor ma'am Saakshi Tikku. She gave important inputs on how to remain mentally strong in any given situation. Dr Maj. Lanka Amar, the School Doctor, addressed the students and presented his precious inputs on Resilience: The Art and Science of Bouncing Back. Words of wisdom shared by the speakers truly left everyone in deep thoughts and participants were overwhelmed.

There were 4 break out rooms created according to the convenience of all the participants to have fruitful discussions. Questions asked by the Session Organizers in the break out rooms were like “share any good or bad experience” , “one thing the participants would like to share with adults after the session gets over”, “how others play role in your life”, “the one who helps you to get  resilience”, “how people help you in your life to achieve resilience” etc. The breakout session got over with very pertinent and fruitful discussions. Tools were shared with each other   to develop resilience and everyone interacted to share their experiences. The session included discourses on physical, mental, emotional well being of students. In the end, Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dhariyajit Singh from The Doon School. Indeed it was a very enriching and amazing session, enjoyed a lot by all.
