PINEGROVE SCHOOL, SOLAN (DEBATE)


 On August 28, 2019, a team of three students, Paridhi Jain of Class XI, Palak Maheshwari and Alaknanda Rathore of Class XI  with their escort teacher, Mrs. Sandhya Mudgal  boarded the train to Kalka to participate in the Fourth Mohinder Bilingual Turncoat Debate 2019 organized by the Pinegrove School, Dharampur, Solan.

The team was warmly welcomed by the school. The registration was done and in the evening, draw of lots decided the topics for the debate. The debators were divided into two Pools, Pool A and Pool B.

The topic for Pool A students was: Insta like promotes Insta Gratification; Insta Like turant santushti ko badhawa deta hai. The topic for Pool B participants was, British Raj was a blessing in Disguise; British Raj ek apratyaksh aashirwaad tha. The judges for the Preliminary Round were, Grp Captain Sudhir Diwan, Dr. Mukesh Sharma , Dr. Harshwardhan Singh Khimta and Shri Hemank Kapil.

Immediately after the announcement of the topics, participants were requested to go to their respective venues and carry out research work.

On August 29, 2019 the Preliminary Rounds started at 9.00am.Pool A students enlightened the audience with their perspectives on the given topic. Pool B students spoke on their topic from 12.00pm – 1.30 pm

Post Lunch, the Host School took the teams to Kasauli. The mesmerizing beauty of the hill station stole everyone’s hearts. After around two hours, with bated breath, students entered the auditorium and waited for the result announcement anxiously. Paridhi Jain of class X qualified for the Final Round.

The next day i.e. on August 31,2019, Paridhi Jain spoke on the topic, The Abrogation of article 370 is Justifed; Dhara 370 ko nirast karna uchit tha. It was a cut throat competition. Paridhi Jain received Consolation Prize. The Chief Guest for the Final Event was Padamshree Dr. Pushpesh Pant.
