AFS-INDIA DAY CELEBRATION (2018-2019)

Theme : Service Campaign-Volunteering in hospital.

Kindness when goes around , comes around ...

On 24th of November 2018, a team comprising 15 members ventured to the Rajdadisa Hospital to celebrate AFS India National Day. The theme Service Campaign -Volunteering in hospital was undertaken by the Jodhpur Chapter. The team first had an interaction with the Chief Administrator who gave a warm welcome to all the students. The Head Doctor, Dr. Umaid Singh Sodha  and the head Anaesthesiologist had an extensive discussion with the students about the components of health, welfare of patients, and prevention of diseases. They also took the students on a tour of the hospital, where the students got an opportunity to interact with the patients and see the different wards and departments.

The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than thousands of heads bowing in prayer. You give your all and, yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing. Catering  to the need and making true the  saying  which  says, ‘Charity begins at home', the students of RKK rendered their services in different departments. They helped in transporting patients, changed linens, socialized with patients, gave oral medication, did clerical duties and organized health sessions. The students also distributed wellness items like biscuits, fruits juice boxes and some grocery items to the patients. It was a wonderful and enriching experience for all the volunteers to understand the complexities of a hospital and the amount of work everyone at a hospital does. It was also incredibly outstanding, as the students learnt never to take anything for granted, especially  health.

Celebrating AFS day on this theme has sensitized the girls and has increased sense of responsibility among students. RKKians solemnly realize through this celebration that Community Service is a way for a person to give back. For it is wisely said “Love what you have. Remember what goes around, comes around." Finally, as said by Robert Ingersoll; “We rise by lifting others.”
