CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON STRENGTHENING ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION PRACTICES


A two-day workshop on "Capacity Building Programme on Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation Practices" was held from 30th to 31st August 2024. The workshop was attended by 60 participants from Rajasthan and Gujarat. The resource persons for the workshop were Ms. Riju Shrivastava from Delhi Public School, Jaipur, and Ms. Shaista Al Muktam.

 

The main objective of the workshop was to help participants understand the integral elements of the latest structure of assessment and to optimize learning and development for all students through regular assessments. The sessions highlighted the differences between assessment and evaluation, the importance of competency-based learning, and the role of curriculum cycles in effective teaching practices.

 

A common session on "Mental Health and Well-Being" was conducted, emphasizing the importance of creating a supportive environment for students to achieve their full potential. The workshop was interactive, with practical activities and group discussions that enabled participants to share their experiences and best practices.

Overall, the workshop successfully provided valuable insights and tools to enhance assessment and evaluation practices, contributing to a more effective and inclusive educational environment.

 

The workshop also focused on different types of assessments, including formative and summative, and their role in fostering a holistic learning experience. Participants were introduced to innovative assessment techniques that cater to diverse learning needs, enabling educators to track student progress more accurately. Emphasis was placed on creating meaningful portfolios that reflect students' ongoing learning journeys and setting clear criteria for evaluation to maintain transparency and fairness in assessments.

 

Through case studies and role-play exercises, the attendees gained practical experience in designing competency-based assessments tailored to specific curriculum goals. Feedback from participants indicated that the sessions were enriching and helped build a deeper understanding of how continuous assessments can drive improvement in student outcomes. The resource persons were commended for their expertise and ability to engage the audience effectively, making the workshop a successful learning experience for all.
