International Award for Young People (IAYP) National Training Workshop was held at YMCA , Mumbai from 19th to 22nd April 2023. Mrs. Indra Shaktawat, the Dean of Activities and Dr Sita Kumari, Physical Education Teacher attended this training workshop. The workshop aimed to provide training and support to young people to discover their potential, find their purpose, passion and place in the world through the non-formal education framework of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. It allowed participants to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the IAYP program. The Training Sessions were conducted by Mr Bivujit Mukhoty, India-Head of IAYP and an experienced trainer and has been associated with the IAYP for several years. His expertise and knowledge were invaluable to the participants.
The workshop covered various aspects of the IAYP program, including the three levels of the award - Gold , Silver and Bronze, detailed sessions on the five pillars of the program - Physical Recreation, Skill, Service , Adventurous Journey and Gold Residential work.
The training also included information on how to set up an IAYP unit in a school or organization, including the registration process, planning and implementing activities, and managing and recording participant progress. Participants were provided with practical examples and case studies of successful IAYP programs. The National Training Workshop on IAYP was great success, providing valuable knowledge and training to all participants. The content was well-structured, informative and practical. The participants were able to gain a good understanding of the IAYP program, and the certificate provided a recognition of their learning with an expectation that the participants will be able to take their learning back to their respective schools and implement the IAYP program effectively.
