A Virtual Conference on Zoom for Class XI and XII was held on 4th February 2022 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm IST, hosted by Ahmedabad University for conversing on the topic “Invitation to History”, a talk about the relevance and significance of History as a method. The speakers in the conference included Historians and faculty from Harvard University, Ahmedabad University of Texas Austin, UC Berkeley, Columbia and Leiden University. They opened up about their perception on History as a discipline and their definition towards it. They were truly inspiring, cheerful and set a very comfortable environment in the conference. An eminent historian E. H. Carr once described history as a laboratory of all social sciences. He also defined history as a continuous dialogue between the past and the present. These characterizations of History are some the themes that were reflected upon. The idea was to demonstrate the myriad possibilities with a grounding in the discipline of History as you seek to build independent careers across diverse fields as modern Indian citizens. The students of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School enthusiastically participated. This amazing opportunity, truly so beneficial, unfolded a number of career options before them which they can choose in History. The session surely left them enlightened and satisfied their curiosities.
