SUNBEAM SCHOOL, LAHARTARA (ROUND SQUARE CONFERENCE)

Six enthusiastic minds - Aarohi Bhattacherjee, Aaditri Bhattacherjee, Adwitiya Saxena, Naavya Rathi, Priyal Jain, Subhadra Kumari  with their escort teacher Ms Priyanka Sharma attended a Round Square Conference from 17th to 21st August 2023 organized by Sunbeam School, Lahartara with the theme Dream, Believe and Achieve through Leadership. The City of Lights greeted them with a whiff of warm air and a bustling crowd. They explored Kashi through an impeccable audio visual performance.

The first day commenced with Inauguration, Unfurling of Round Square Flag, School Flag March Past and Musical Presentation by the students of Sunbeam School. Mr Pratish Nair from the advertising world taught them in an eccentric way on how to awaken the qualities of a leader through fun activities. In the barraza sessions, they discussed how their allotted poems reflected traits of a leader. Also participants learnt about the hardships of farmers, laborers and that of child laborers through deep and heart touching songs.

The next day, all delegates visited Sarnath the third important place in Buddha's life where he gave his first sermon then they visited the world's only central institute for higher Tibetan Studies where the Vice Chancellor distinguished between greed and ambition. Mr. Tenzin Tsundue, a Tibetan writer and activist shared the problems of Tibet and that of the Tibetans. In a dynamic address, Mr Pranab Mukherjee presented his perspective on how to see a city's true essence through its places.

Three groups were formed as per their interests. The first was film making in which the students were asked to click microscopic pictures and film the emotions in a thirty second video. The next was Map your Image which included creativity of students unleashed on a long single piece of canvas. The last was Theatre Role Play in which they were required to use a single prop as myriad things.

The day ended with a mesmerizing kathakali performance which left everyone awestruck. Mr. Kannan Gireesh, a physiologist and psychiatrist from Tamil Nadu enlightened them about the seven habits a teen should implement. He strongly believed that one must have a purpose driven life in order to be successful. Banarasi stalls having wooden and stone toys, silk clothing and the local food were set up for the participants to experience. The contribution by Mahatma Gandhi in Satyagraha was present as a short skit in a puppet show. It was followed by the most awaited moment of the conference, the social night. The progressing day encapsulated an array of events, cultural programme, the final baraza, the conference statement and the conference wrap up that led the delegates to the departure.

Also students visited the oldest living city's renowned temples, ghats and Banaras Hindu University.

This conference was one of its kind and one of the most memorable conferences.
