OXFORD MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MU20 SCHOOL OF OPPORTUNITY & FLAME UNIVERSITY, PUNE)

From the 9th to 11th of August 2024, Flames University in Pune hosted the Oxford Model United Nations (MUN), an event that brought together students from various schools nationwide. The event provided a unique platform for young minds to engage in global diplomacy, debate critical international issues, and develop leadership and negotiation skills.

The Oxford MUN at Flames University was meticulously organized, featuring multiple committees that simulated the workings of the United Nations. Delegates from different schools represented various countries and debated pressing global issues such as climate change, international security, human rights, and economic development. The event was inaugurated by distinguished guests, including diplomats, professors, and experts in international relations, who shared insights on the importance of youth involvement in global governance.

RKK’s delegation of 09 students - Samriddhi Pandey, Bhavya Baid, Dhruvi Garg, Yashaswi Singh Shekhawat, Gaurisha Tanwar, Dhruvi Gupta, Palak Jaisalmeria, Gayatri Rathore, Anvi Garg from grades X & XI with their Teacher Escort – Ms Neetu Chatterjee, represented different countries in committees. Each delegate was assigned a specific country and had to research their country’s stance on the agenda topics, prepare position papers and engage in debates.

The Oxford MUN provided an invaluable learning experience for our students. They had the opportunity to hone their research, public speaking, and critical thinking abilities. Moreover, they learned the importance of diplomacy, negotiation, and collaboration in resolving complex global issues. The event also fostered friendships and networks among students from different schools, contributing to their personal growth and understanding of diverse perspectives.

The Oxford MUN at Flames University was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. Our students gained academic and practical skills and returned with a deeper appreciation for international relations and the importance of youth in global decision-making. We look forward to participating in future MUNs and continuing to excel on this prestigious platform.
