The online literary meet,
‘Cela Fiesta’ was organized by The Assam Valley School on 19th August, 2023 at 4 p.m. The meet was a vibrant gathering of writers, students, teachers and enthusiasts from around the country. Each and every participant got engaged in thought-provoking discussions about various literary genres, shared their creative works and participated in endless engaging discussions. The notable Sahitya Akademi Award winning author, Janice Pariat delivered inspiring keynote speech on children’s literature and shed light on the writing process and her experience as a writer. The event featured Q&A session, allowing attendees to interact directly with the author.
In addition to the discussions, the participants of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School had the chance to explore different thematic panels that delved into topics in six different categories. They are as follow:
• Poetry: Prathna Sancheti X-A, Riya Sharma X-A
• Why I did what I did: Pranjal Mishra X-C
• Book Club: Reet Mehta IX-A
• Movie Club: Aehaid Kaur Bajwa IX-B
• Create a Disguise: Amayra Lavania IX-D, Jasmitha Pitti IX-A
• Become a Character: Elina Garg IX-B, Khwahish Parihar IX-A
Ms. Awanesh Sharma ma’am was overall coordinator for the event and prepared students for the first four rounds (Poetry, Why I did what I did, Book Club and Movie Club). Ms.Stella Basu ma'am prepared the participants for the round, “Create a Disguise”. Ms. Janet Rana prepared the students for the round, “ Become a Character”.
• Khwahish Parihar was very much appreciated for “Best Costume”.
• Elina Garg was the most “Innovative Character”.
The virtual platform allowed participants to share their favourite quotes, insights from the session and their own creative pieces inspired by the discussions. The online nature of the event enabled people who might not have been able to attend an in-person event to join in, contributing to a global and inclusive atmosphere.
Overall, the online literary meet successfully created a dynamic and interactive space for literary enthusiasts to connect, learn, and celebrate literature in all its forms. The virtual format offered convenience and accessibility while still capturing the essence of a traditional literary gathering. The virtual platform allowed for seamless networking and knowledge exchange, fostering a sense of community despite the digital format.
