On 28th January, 2023,
SAI International School organised the 3rd edition of e - SAI Global Debate. This mega online debate competition received participation from over 45 schools & 8 countries across the globe such as Dubai, South Africa, Morocco, Ghana, Namibia, Oman, Pakistan. The competition was divided into two categories, the Junior group from grade VI to VIII and the Senior Group from grade IX to XII.
In the
Junior Group, Saima Singh and Avni Jain participated in the Traditional Debate, Aarohi Bhattacherjee in Turncoat and Adwitiya Saxena in Extempore respectively.
In the
Senior Group, Soumya Joshi and Pari Salecha participated in the Traditional debate, Ira Bishnoi in Turncoat and Sheetal Johari in Extempore respectively.
The topics on which students shared their views were :
Are the Sustainable Development Goals the Best Approach to sustainability?
Can we meet the 5.1 target to end all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere by 2030?
Is Tackling border security and interests with a diplomatic negotiation better ?
Is nuclear power the solution for sustainable energy production?
The opening ceremony was graced by the Keynote Speaker Mr. Paul Ellis, Head of Teaching, & Learning, Cambridge Assessment International Education and Dr. Shilpi Sahoo, Chairperson, SAI International Education Group, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Mr. Adrian Johnson, renowned Storyteller, Former Poet Laureate Birmingham, graced the Closing Ceremony of the Global Debate.
Soumya Joshi of Class XI, won the second prize in the Traditional Debate.It was an enriching experience challenged the potential of students in order to bring out their finest versions. Students were trained by, Mrs Asha Bajpai and Mrs. Sandhya Mudgal. It was a wonderful platform of a great learning experience for all the students. In the words of Mr. Paul, “We never lose, we either win or we learn.”
