Mumal Deora, Sheetal Johari, Diksha Rajpurohit and Manasvi Salecha and their Teacher Trainer Mrs Asha Bajpai.The Preliminary Round held on the 15th September consisted of three debates. The first one was against Bishop Cotton School with the motion, ‘This house believes that it’s time that animals are completely taken off the menu.’ The second debate was against Delhi Public School Guwahati with the motion being, ‘This house regrets governmental interference in school education’. ‘The Best Speaker’ was awarded to Mumal Deora. The third debate was against The Lawrence School, Sanawar and the motion was, ‘This house believes that Shakespeare is redundant and should not be taught in 21st century schools.’
‘The Best Speaker’ was once again awarded to Mumal Deora.
RKK’s girls put up a strong front and successfully made it to the pre Quarter Finals where they debated against Wynberg Allen School on the motion, ‘This house believes that protest is the most effective tool that citizens have in a democratic political system’.
‘The Best Speaker’ was awarded to Sheetal Johari and ‘The Most Promising Speaker’ was awarded to Mumal Deora.
The girls won this debate as well and proceeded to the Quarter Finals against Welham Boys’ School where they debated on the motion, ‘This house regrets the importance given to a competitive mindset over cooperative one’. ‘The Most Promising Speaker’ was awarded to Mumal Deora.
Unfortunately the girls lost this round but definitely gave a tough competition and left everyone in awe of their performance. All the participants won in terms of great learning.
