“A room without books is like a body without soul”.Books play a quintessential role in every student’s life by introducing them to a world of imagination, providing knowledge of the outside world, improving their reading, writing and speaking skills as well as boosting memory and intelligence. On the occasion of National Reading Day (June 19th), a virtual reading fest “Booktopia”, was organized and hosted by SAI International School, Bhubaneswar on 26th June 2021 with an aim to not only promote reading but make the participants think out of the box.
The participants included : Senior Team Members- (1) Himakshi Prashar (XII B), (2) Divya Ladha (XII C), (3) Kirti Kanwar Bhati (XII A), (4) Khushi Yadav (XII A).
Junior Team Members- (1) Mansi Rathore (X A), Aditi Sharma (X C), Sheetal Johari (X C).
Barazza sessions were filled with lots of fun, curiosity and creativity. They were two hour long, giving the participants more time to bond and form connections and was themed around different genres ( Mystery, Sci-Fi, Classics, Fantasy etc) and included pre- event activities and games related to books. Delegates were engrossed and intrigued to see how different, yet similar they were in the ice breaking session. It inspired them to question, learn and grow in a beautiful way.
All students joined the main meeting with Elise Marra, a 17 year old Writer, Composer, Singer, Actor, Musician, a “Teen Prodigy” and a Keynote Speaker for the event. She talked about how to deal with negativity, her inspirations, tackling with failures followed by a soulful musical performance from Elise herself. Finally, gratitude was expressed by the participants to the host school and all the teachers there, thus ending the conference.
