On 24th of August, 3 students - Vasvi Gupta, Divija Sharma and Shambhavi Shekhar escorted by Ms Awanesh Sharma participated in Platinum Jubilee All India English Debates organized by Birla Public School Pilani from 30th August to 1st September 2019 along with many elite schools like Mayo College Ajmer, Modi School Laxmangarh, SKV Gwalior etc.
The debates were extemporary and the participants were given only 2 hours for preparation. There were two Preliminary Round followed by the Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals and Finals.
Some of the topics were : 1) This house believes that Israel is demanding too much and giving too little in peace process. 2) Nice guys finish last. 3) Women should not be sent to prison.
RKK qualified for the Semi Finals and presented a series of strong arguments on the motion, ‘This house believes that free market system has failed.’
Divija Sharma was adjudged as the Most Promising Speaker in the Quarter Finals. Vasvi Gupta won the laurel of the Best Speaker in Quarter Finals and Shambhavi Shekhar was declared as the Most Promising Speaker in the Semi Finals.
The team returned happy and an enriching exposure and experience.
