The English Department of RKKGPS organized an Inter House English Debate Competition for classes XI and XII on April 17, 2023 at 10.30 am at New Library. The event was the first Inter House event of the academic session 2023-24, where the students of Classes X, XI and XII witnessed the competition. For a conventional debate, the topic for Class XI was “The strength of an individual is characterised more by the moral courage than the physical strength”, wherein 2 students from each house spoke in favour and against the motion respectively. For Class XII, a student from each house participated for the turncoat debate on the topic “The Indian government’s initiative to set up foreign university is a predatory practice”. The participants were judged by 3 esteemed judges and subject experts namely:
1. Mrs. Purnima Surana, PGT English, Central Academy, Chopasni, Jodhpur
2. Mrs. Bindhu Mathew, Microbiologist and an avid debator.
3. Ms. Neeta Sharma, TGT English, St. Patrick’s School, Jodhpur
The judges evaluated the debaters on the basis of content, delivery, development of argument and presentation. The judges also overtly gave an insight to the debaters with their valuable words where one of the judges apprised the students about rhetoric and rhetorical appeals. Moreover, comperes captivated the audience with their exemplary words and oration. In conclusion, Mrs. Sandhya Mudgal, one the event organizers declared the results which are as follows:
Class XII
I Best Speaker: Sheetal Johari (Shri Bhawani House)
II Best Speaker: Shreya Parakh (Shri Shakti House)
Class XI
I Best Speaker: Mehayee Kavia (Shri Shakti House)
II Best speakers: Lavina Bhawnani (Shri Durga House)
Tulika Harshardhan (Shri Durga House).
Hence, with the compilation of the overall result, Shri Shakti House won the trophy.
