SCINDIA KANYA VIDYALAYA, GWALIOR (IPSC DANCE FEST)


The IPSC Dance Fest 2024, hosted by Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) from 29th to 31st July 2024 was a remarkable celebration of rhythm, talent and cultural exchange. This annual event brought together schools from across the region, offering a platform for young dancers to showcase their skills and engage in a spirited competition. The fest was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Vijaya Sharma-A renowned Kathak Dancer. She delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of artistic expression and cultural diversity. The event began with a vibrant traditional dance performance by Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior students, setting the tone for a day full of creativity and enthusiasm. This year’s fest saw participation from 16 schools competing in 4 categories. Each team brought a unique style and flavor to the competition, ranging from Classical and contemporary to folk and hip-hop. RKK was represented by the following participants - Simran Lalwani, Manvi Gulecha, Manasvi Malani, Shubhangini Udawat, Arudi Sharma, Bhavya Bhati,   Prachi Jain, Avni Yadav & Dwita Buch with their Escort & Trainers – Ms Khyati Jaju & Ms Yanashika Kaur.

The competition was divided into four categories:

Classical Dance: This was a tribute to the Gurus’ contribution to a Shishya’s Journey. Each      movement was a testimony to this most godly bond, unique to the ‘Guru- Shishya Parampara

Folk Dance: In this category, schools portrayed authenticity & Cultural Understanding along with brilliant Choreography & Synchronization in various folk dance forms of Madhya Pradesh such as, Grida Ahiri, Jawara Dance etc.

Rangmanch : A group choreography event which revolved around Indian period dramas, cinematic masterpieces and legendary sagas of valor, heritage and history that adorned the stage embracing the energy and flair of urban dance forms.

Beats of Change - An event that incorporated the buzz of Western Dance culture. The performances of participating schools were evocative of a tribute to UNESCO World Heritage status conferred on Gwalior as the City of Music for its strong commitment to harnessing culture and creativity.

Performances were judged by a panel of esteemed judges, including Dr Vijaya Sharma and many more who provided valuable feedback and praise for the participants' creativity and technical prowess. RKK’s team excelled in both the Contemporary Dance and Folk Dance categories, showcasing their hard work and talent. The IPSC Dance Fest 2024 was a resounding success, highlighting the exceptional talent and passion of young dancers from across the region. The fest not only provided a competitive platform but also fostered fellowship and appreciation for the diverse dance forms represented.
