The IPSC French Fest,
Daly College, Indore on 17th & 18th July 2023. ‘If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart’. The beautiful memories of a Rendez-Vous in Daly College will remain etched in the registers of the hearts of the participants forever. A team comprising 12 students under the leadership of Maám Subhita Jhakar got an opportunity to participate in the first ever IPSC French Fest organised by Daly College, Indore. The beautiful campus of Daly College was all set disguised as mini France to welcome us with open arms. Day 1 began with registrations at the Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium which witnessed the Opening Ceremony of the fest. After a traditional Bhairavi Breakfast in the beautiful lawns of the auditorium, the students were transported to the magical land of France itself and it all began with a bang. The Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony was Dr Nidhi Raisinghani, Head of the Department of European Languages, Literature and Cultural Studies, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The Chief Guest then enlightened the students and emphasised that language does not create a barrier but opens windows to more opportunities and learning. She declared the Festival open and the auditorium resounded with a loud and cheerful applause. The highlights of the opening ceremony were the school choir singing our father in French and a fusion dance of Kathak and Bharatnatyam on a French song. The Opening Ceremony concluded with a group photograph outside the auditorium. After a quick tea and snack, the participants geared up for the business of the day. The events began with Spell Bee for both Junior and Senior category. We witnessed a thrilling contest where contestants were asked to spell a broad selection of words, with a varying degree of difficulty. It was then followed by Poem Recitation for both Junior and Senior category. The competition inspired the young poets and we enjoyed the perfection of their expression, thoughts, emotions, rhythm and music of words. After these events we were treated to a tasty and sumptuous lunch. The second half witnessed Solo Song for the Senior category and Reading for both Junior and Senior Category. The events brought out the singing and reading talent of the students as their performances pulled the heartstrings of the audience. The evening session of Day 1witnessed a French Quiz that unfolded over four rounds. The event was as heart-warming as it was inspiring. The grit and heart shown by all participants to bring out their sportive and competitive spirit certainly took the cake. The day concluded with the Principal’s Dinner, Shab-e-Malwa at the Junior Wing. The concluding day witnessed a commendable display of exhibition which gave us a peak into French culture. It was followed by Solo Song for Junior category. The Chief Guest for the closing ceremony was Dr. Gunmeet Bindra, Principal Daly College.
