The IPSC Literary Festival was held at Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur between
17th December 2016 to 19th December 2016. His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singhji graced the Opening Ceremony along with Board of Governors & other esteemed guests. There were top
14 schools like Army Public School Solan, Birla Public School Pilani, L K Singhania Education Centre Gotan, Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School Jaipur, Modern School, Barakhambha, New Delhi, Mody School Lakshmangarh, Sainik School, Kunjpura Karnal, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya Gwalior, The Daly College Indore, The Emerald Heights International School Indore, Vidya Devi Jindal School Hisar, Welham Boys’ School Dehradun, Yadavindra Public School Patiala and Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public, Jodhpur from India participating in the 3 day event which featured competitions based on English & Hindi Literature. It was a mixed bag of competitions like Literary Bonanza comprising poetry writing. ‘Many Out of One’ ‘R K Laxman Caricatures’ testing their rhetoric skills. Other than this, Shakespearean & Mahabharata era was celebrated through Act-O-Nama with characters delivering classic, monologues & soliloques. Hindi Literature world was showcased through humorous ‘Hasgulle’ & wit was depicted through ‘Ye Bhi Wo Bhi’ Turn Coat Debate.
All teams were also taken for excursion to Umaid Bhawan Palace and Mehrangarh Fort. Delegations were also involved into a fabulous Art / Theatre / Music Workshop in the evening. It was followed by some foot tapping moves and music in the jam night and Principal’s Dinner to give mingling time to all escort teachers and team delegates.
RKKGPS organized the lit festival with an intention to foster love for literature among the tech savvy children of today and connect them to their roots. It aimed at an ‘awakening’, realizing the power of a pen over a sword, tapping the potential within. Speaking at the Literature Festival Mrs Neera Singh, Principal, RKKGPS said,
“The Power of the Pen has been realized…..” ‘The Lit Wingding… A Celebration’ was dedicated to the rationalist writers who were silenced by history because their ‘pen spoke’. These include ‘Bhagat Singh’ to ‘Pash’ to ‘Safdar Hashmi’ to the more recent ones like ‘Kalburgi’ and ‘Pansare’ - the writers who were martyred.
The winners, runner-ups and the participants were felicitated by the Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony, Prof. C.V.R. Murthy, Director, IIT, Jodhpur. The show concluded with swirling folk dance on ‘Runecha ra Dhaniya’. The IPSC Lit. Fest 2016 winners were Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur followed by the 1st Runner up team of The Emerald Heights, Indore and L.K. Singhania Education Centre, Gotan was announced the 2nd Runner Up. RKKGPS intends to grow the outreach of the festival in subsequent years to touch many more. And towards this, skills like story narration, script reading and writing, book reading sessions, integrating theatre with literature and connecting it to the society, puppetry on folktales are some of the key endeavours.
