Nishika Pagaria, Tanishka Jain, Jisha R. Gothi, Krisha Gehlot, Rudrakshi Nathawat, Anvi Garg, Radhika Choudhary, Arshnoor Kaur, Sonakshi Charan, Harsirat Kaur, Mishaa Chhajer, Anaisha Rathi, Hitanshi Jain, Shivangani Rathore with their Escort Teacher, Mrs. Sarita Ratnoo embarked on an unforgettable journey to the enchanting
Sanjay Ghodawat International School, Kolhapur from 9th to 18th August 2024. They ventured into this cultural exchange under the esteemed AFS program.
On the 9th of August, the team boarded the train with their hearts brimming with anticipation. As the train chugged along, their imaginations painted vivid pictures of the adventures that awaited them. On the 10th, they arrived at their destination, the serene and sprawling SGIS campus. Day one was a whirlwind of exploration. Students began by immersing themselves in the rich history of Kolhapur at the Shahu Museum. The evening brought them to the exhilarating Viraj Junction Amusement Park, where they soared through the air on zip lines and bounced to their hearts' content on Trampolines.
Day two was a symphony of cultural exchange. They participated in a grand cultural event with IB and Cambridge students, where they were greeted with warm Hospitality, Traditional Tilak, Aarti, and a mesmerizing Marathi Band. The words of gratitude by the Director ma'am of SGIS echoed through the hall, and RKKians, in turn, presented the vibrant and spirited Ghoomar Dance, a sparkling jewel of Rajasthani culture.
They also had the privilege of sharing their knowledge and passion with the students of a local Government School. They taught them Dance, Music, Art and hosted a captivating Drawing Competition and later indulged themselves in an exhilarating Horse Riding followed by a creative Art Workshop, and an immersive Theater session. The day culminated in a dazzling Cultural Fashion Show and a series of captivating performances. Day three took them on a pilgrimage to the renowned Mahalakshmi Temple. They then embarked on a journey through time, exploring the majestic Panhala Fort and other historical landmarks such as Amber Kothi and Teen Darvaza. These architectural marvels bore witness to the valour and chivalry of the Maratha Empire. Day four was a day of academic exploration and cultural immersion. In the evening, the team visited Chetna Vikas Mandir, a school for autistic children. They distributed apples and biscuits, purchased some of their handmade creations, and made a small donation. Next journey continued to Kaneri Math and its Museum, followed by a thrilling adventure at a Horror House. The day concluded with an exhilarating inter-house patriotic Dance Competition. Day five marked India's 78th Independence Day and RKKians felt honored to participate in a vibrant Independence Day assembly at SGIS. They also engaged in a thought-provoking Panel Discussion on Gender Equality. Day six brought them to the CBSE Day Boarding Section, where they engaged in Martial Arts. Students then had the opportunity to visit Star Group Industries, where they witnessed the fascinating process of producing beverages, snacks and oil. On day seven, the participants indulged in the thrill of Basketball and Football matches and witnessed a captivating exhibition by the Cambridge Section showcasing their Robotics Skills and delectable Indian Cuisine.
As they bid farewell to the students and teachers of Sanjay Ghodawat School, they carried with them a deep sense of connection and admiration. Their rich Maharashtrian culture had left an indelible mark on entire team and were equally proud to have showcased the vibrant Rajasthani Culture to them.
