DR ANWESA MAHANTA

Another brilliant opportunity was provided to RKKians for Class V to IX on 27th April 2018 when Spic Macay brought into light Assam’s Sattriya Dance  performance in RKK. Dr Anwesa Mahanta accompanied by Hari Saikia for Khol, Gautam Bayan for Vocal and Prasanna Baruah for Flute graced the portals. The distinctive features of the graceful Sattriya Dance, the wavy and horizontal movements, intricate footwork, decorative hand gestures gave a good account of Dr Anwesa Mahanta’s skills in executing the well-choreographed piece.

The interaction with the artists which followed the lecture demonstration was highly valuable as it brought into discussion a variety of aspects of the dance forms and answers to the queries of the students.

Spic Macay was thus successful in promoting the youth an experience of intangible aspect of Indian cultural heritage.
