ROCKWOODS SCHOOL, UDAIPUR (AFS INDIA REGIONAL MEET - WEST ZONE MEMBER SCHOOLS)


"Every day bears its gifts. Untie the ribbon."

These profound words by Ann Ruth Schabacker held true during AFS West Zone Meet 2024 at Rockwoods School, Udaipur from 12th to 14th January 2024, themed 'Citizens of the Globe.' This gathering unfolded like a cherished present, revealing its treasures with each passing day.

RKK's delegation, comprising two students, Charvi Abba & Chinmayi Abba of Class IX, accompanied by their teacher escort, Mrs. Radhika Singh, embarked on this enriching journey. Day- I ushered them into a world of vibrancy with a versatile inauguration ceremony. The air was filled with speeches by Keynote Speakers - Lt. Col. Mohnish Ahuja, Mr. Nicholas Gherardi, Ms. Urmi Chanda, Mr. Siddharth Singh and a diverse array of dances that captured the very essence of Rajasthan. Day- II was a whirlwind of action, commencing with the reading of the day’s agenda and an insightful overview of AFS by Ms. Seema Shaikh. Speeches from Mr. Sachin Desai and an important Keynote by Mr. Narayan Iyer on the 'Attitude of Gratitude' set the tone.

Post this, engaging breakout sessions led by Ms. Urmi Chanda and Mr. Dawood Vaid unfolded, exploring seeds of peace and SDGs. The sessions were not only gripping but also packed with valuable insights. A thought-provoking panel discussion, led by Ms. Mumtaz Syed, stirred diverse sentiments on global competencies. Ms. Sarita Badhwar took the reins during an ICL training session, shedding light on the need to think locally and act globally. The highlight awaited the participants for the exhibition on SDGs, where RKKGPS showcased Gender Equality and empowerment through Project Shakti & Project Prayaas. The exhibit garnered widespread appreciation, especially from the judges. The wide array of soft toys and the display of Sanitary Napkins showcased RKK’s relentless efforts in providing better facilities for girls and women.

The day concluded with a harmonious blend of music, dance and vibrant Lohri celebrations. Day - III unfolded a different chapter, centered around sightseeing. It commenced with a hike to Bahubali Hills, visits to City Palace and Jag Mandir Palace, a serene boat ride, a feast at Garden Hotel Restaurant and culminated with a mesmerizing light and sound show at Moti Magri. In a nutshell, this experience will forever be etched in the memories of the participants. Beyond building lasting friendships, they learned to be responsible and capable citizens of the world.
