Cocurricular - Activities during Lockdown

THE DOON SCHOOL - RS VISUAL ARTS FESTIVAL


The Doon School kicked off a 3-day Round Square Visual Arts Festival titled Discovery of Art – ‘A Borderless Approach to Knowledge’ from 28th September to 30th September 2020. More than 150 participants from 25 schools across Dubai, Jordan, Pakistan, Oman and India took part in this event.

The event started today with a keynote address by Mr Martand Kholsa, Architect and Artist based in New Delhi. Mr Khosla talked about his journey as an architect and artist and also talked to the students about pursuing a career in this field. Prior to this event, participating students have been doing research on various themes like - Art/design movement, Folk Art, Street Art & Graffiti, Public Art, Famous Artists etc. to name a few. The findings and learning of this research was presented by students in this three-day festival.

 Participating schools included - All Saint’s College(Nainital), Birla Public School(Pilani), British Overseas School(Pakistan), KC Public School(Jammu), RKKGPS(Jodhpur), Indian High School(Dubai), DAIS(Mumbai), Cadet College Hasan Abdal (Pakistan), SAJS(Kanpur), Singapore Intl School (Mumbai), College De La Salle – Amman(Jordan), Sunbeam School(Varanasi), Assam Valley School, Emeralds Heights (Indore), TBS (New Delhi), Welham Girl’s School, The Lawrence School (Lovedale), The Sagar School (Rajasthan), The Scindia School (Gwalior), Trivandrum Intl School, VDJS (Hisar), Vivek High(Chandigarh), Indian School Al Ghubra (Oman), Sunbeam Suncity (Varanasi) & The Doon School.

The students of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School - Sanika Kakkar, Aayushi Malani, Sumriddhi Sharma, Shauryanshi Singh, Drishti Varyani and Avni Jain presented their research on different artists like MF Hussain, Raja Ravi Verma, Ramkinkar Baij, Jamini Roy etc.

In this Visual Arts Festival the students not only discovered the importance of art in their life but also learned that how most of the aspects of life had their form of art in it. The speech given by Mr. Khosla left a remarkable impact on children by making each one of them even more curious and eager to learn.

The fest ended with a Closing Ceremony with a musical performance by students of Doon School. It was a creative yet fruitful session with a new experience for the young minds.
