EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO CHEMICAL FACTORY

An educational visit was organized for the students of Class VIII to Chemical and Mineral Industries (P) Ltd on 18th July 2019 with an aim to provide a wonderful exposure and learning opportunity to the students to understand various measures taken to control Air Pollution.

The factory works on fully automated, ultra modem technique using Twin Shaft Regenerative Lime Kiln. The major products are Quick lime, Activated and Precipitated Calcium carbonate required as a raw material for various industries like Paper and Pulp, Iron and Steel, etc.

Measures taken to manage and reutilize the waste generated during the process was a wonderful learning experience for the students:-

· Hot air released during thermal decomposition of Quick lime is reused to heat the subsequent loads instead of being released into the atmosphere.

· Carbon dioxide produced as a by product is used to make slurry and produce Activated and Precipitated Calcium carbonate.

·  Residual fine dust particles of Quick lime and Calcium carbonate coming out with hot air are collected in bag filters to be used as a raw material by Tile making factories.

It was truly a learning carried out with a purpose to become aware about methods and measures carried out to control Air Pollution. The student’s enthusiastic and inquisitive curiosity was well observed.
