WORKSHOP ON CERVICAL CANCER FOR ADOLESCENTS


To create awareness about Cervical Cancer among students of Classes V to XI, an interactive workshop was held by Dr Garima Kalla on 7th February 2018. Being an RKKian, Dr Kalla connected to the students easily and discussed about the issue effectively.

All females, at large, are at the risk of getting infected by Human Papilloma virus (HPV), causing Cervical Cancer, making it the most common form of Cancer among Indian Women. Tropical humid climate is the most conducive environment for HPV to grow. Various causes of this disease were explained to the students in detail. Common preventive measures were discussed, emphasizing on healthy life style and personal hygiene.

Cervical Cancer is curable if detected at an early stage. Vaccination – being the first form of preventive measure to be taken up at an age of 9 – 15 years and screening test (Pap Smear Test) – A detecting method to be taken up post 30 years of age.

For this, the masses at large, particularly the students were made aware.
