A visit was planned on 8th July 2017 to Saras Dairy for the students of Class VII. The aim of the visit was to provide practical exposure to the students where they could experience the operations of the Milk Dairy. Saras Dairy is run by cooperative societies. 90 students visited the Dairy accompanied by five faculty members. The Dairy officials welcomed the students. Mr. Nabi Husain explained the processing capacity of the plant with the significance of the steps in processing, the procedure of procurement, testing, packaging of milk and the benefits of various categories of milk. Students asked various questions after the presentation. Thereafter, they were taken for a tour of the entire plant where they were shown the entire process of testing, processing, storage and transportation facilities of Saras Dairy. During the visit, the students were made well versed with the stages of the plant. They were given information regarding the quality parameters which they follow while processing milk. They were briefed about the primitive and newer modes of milk collection and distribution. The students were also served with a flavored lassi at the end of the visit. The visit provided an experiential learning to the students and helped them understand the process involved in the making of milk which is totally automated and is internationally designed, keeping in mind the hygiene standards.
