The Doon School hosted the first edition of the
BSAI Representatives’ Meet from January 8 to 9, 2026. Representatives from twenty eight BSAI Member Schools from across the country participated in this conclave.
The two-day event began with a Keynote Address given by Ms. Sangeeta Kain, Principal, Welham Boys’ School, and the Treasurer, BSAI. She motivated the representatives to be proactive in their role and to be the bridge between their respective schools and the BSAI. Ms. Kain stressed the need for all Member Schools to be the support system for each other, openly sharing good and bad experiences, so that the entire community can learn and grow together. She spoke about the changing times, the challenges from students and parents alike, the laws of the land and the new dynamic of a boarding school education.
Mr. Vinay Pande, Director of Professional Development, BSAI, had an interactive, outdoor session in which he invited suggestions from the representatives regarding future meetings of BSAI, for students as well as for staff. He was keen on making such gatherings more meaningful and fun. Treks, outdoor camps and social service projects were some of the ideas that emerged from this discussion.
Following this, Doon School Master, and BSAI representative, Ms. Stuti Kuthiala conducted a session that outlined in detail the role and responsibility of being a BSAI Representative, the skill sets required to be an effective leader, and the success indicators that would be the positive outcome of the effort put in by a conscientious representative. Consistent engagement and a healthy exchange of best practices were highlighted as necessary traits for effective implementation of the BSAI ideals.
Post lunch, the Representatives took to the floor, showcasing the unique culture and best practices of their schools through PPT presentations, videos and anecdotal references. Great insight and learning was received from the thirteen schools that presented that afternoon.
In the evening, a campus tour was conducted by two Doon Masters, Mr. Keshav Bhatt and Mr. Siddharth Bathla, which included a visit to Hyderabad House, one of the boarding Houses at Doon, and a meeting with the Housemaster, Mr. Sudhir Thapa, Assistant Housemaster, Mr. Harshal Gunwant, the Dame, Mrs. Meenakshi Tripathi, and the House support staff. As the Representatives walked about the rooms and corridors of the House, conversing with the pastoral team, they were able to get a deeper understanding of the pastoral care provide dat Doon.
The first day concluded with the Headmaster’s Dinner which provided the Representatives an opportunity to network and get to know each other socially.
Day two began with a session by the Founder of the National Council for School Safety (NCSS), Ms. Shikha Agnihotri, and her colleague Ms. Sunaina Tourang bam. They alerted the gathering to the challenges that schools face today in the area of child well-being and safeguarding, and how institutions must be prepared with policies, processes and practices that adhere to the legal system of the country.
A second session in which the remaining fifteen Representatives made their presentations, brought the Meet to an enriching end.
Mr. Vinay Pande delivered the final address, hoping that the Representatives would carry back to their respective schools fresh ideas and new contacts, which would enable them to be more effective ambassadors of the BSAI.
