BEST OUT OF WASTE (AFS INDIA ONLINE ACTIVITY)

“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly,” quoted Anne Marie Bonneau. Inspired by this idea, an intriguing online competition titled “Repurposing Discarded Paper Waste into Sustainable Innovative Creations” was organized by The British Co-Ed High School on 10th December 2024. This event aimed to inspire students to use discarded paper and other waste materials to create sustainable and creative works, emphasizing environmental sustainability and fostering artistic development.

Two students, Bhavya Bhati (IX-D) and Himshikha Purohit (IX-B), from RKK participated in this competition under the guidance of their teacher-in-charge, Ms. Radhika Singh. Demonstrating their creativity and innovative spirit, Bhavya and Himshikha crafted a dog house from discarded grocery cardboard boxes and a bird feeder from a water bottle, showcasing their ability to transform everyday waste into practical and imaginative creations.

This enriching learning experience not only highlighted the importance of sustainability but also encouraged the students to believe in their ability to make a difference. By the end of the competition, both participants proudly affirmed, “Yes, we can and we will make a difference.”
