“Great discoveries and improvements invariably involve the cooperation of many minds,” quote unquote Alexander Graham Bell. Warm greetings everyone! The Round Square Geography Lab Session was successfully hosted by the young geographers of our school on 21st November 2024. The event brought together various schools from diverse countries and regions namely, The Brookhouse School, Kenya; The Redlands School, Australia; The Olive Tree International Academy, China; The Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai; The Punjab Public School, Nabha; and the Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls' Public School, Jodhpur.
The session commenced with the introductory remarks by the representatives of our school briefing the participants on the main theme, “Rivers: lifeline or threats”. After a 15 minute introduction of the main theme, participants were divided into different breakout rooms where they were welcomed by their barazza leaders. This 60 minute breakout room session started with an introduction of each participant. Thereafter, all the guests participated in an interactive quiz followed by the presentation of a case study about the floods caused by the rivers flowing in their area or country delving into the causes, impacts, mitigation methods, government policies etc. Representatives from various schools shared insightful presentations, highlighting the complexities surrounding rivers.
The session facilitated a rich exchange of ideas, fostering global understanding and collaboration. Students engaged in thought-provoking discussions, comparing and contrasting the effectiveness of different mitigation strategies and policy interventions.
