THE DALY COLLEGE, INDORE (ROUND SQUARE CONFERENCE)

Someone rightly said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"

Keeping in mind the ethos of new and richer experiences, five delegates, namely Kashvi Jain, Sanvie Jain, Saanvi Agarwal, Shivika Kothari and Jinanshi Jain of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, attended the Round Square Conference from 23rd-27th February at The Daly College, Indore  under the able guidance of their teacher escort Mrs. Radhika Singh.

The theme of the conference was "Baaltantra – We the Children of the World". The Conference was attended by 20 schools in India and 1 school from Tanzania, Africa. The 5 days of the conference were packed with engaging, enriching, and enthralling experiences for children and taught them about leadership, teamwork and camaraderie. Day 0 was a comfortable day that involved breaking sessions, a treasure hunt, and a soft Opening Ceremony that helped the children mingle and open up with their fellow participants.

Day 1 began with an open-air scrumptious breakfast by the lakeside lawns with some soulful live music, followed by the formal Opening Ceremony, which began with a prayer and message from the Principal of the host school emphasizing the need to connect. This was followed by the flag-bearing ceremony by the delegates, which set the tone for the ceremony. The Chief Guest, Air Chief Marshal Birendra Singh Dhanoa who graced the occasion gave insightful thoughts on the qualities of a leader. This was followed by a fun Baraza session for the participants and Rikka for adult delegates. This day had art activities such as Dokra Art, Gond Art, Tie-and-Dye, Mandana, Block Printing and Tapestry, which helped children to learn more about art and culture also gave them a chance to get hands-on experience. The day concluded with Indian style Mela with service activities with underprivileged kids and a laughter riot by a worldwide renowned comedian, Anuvab Pal.

Day 2 began with a trip to Mandu, the ruined city, where delegates immersed themselves in its history by visiting Baaz Bahadur Mahal, Rani Roopmati Mahal, and Jami Masjid. The day concluded with a hearty meal and a Malwi Dance and Barraza session at the Jahaz Mahal.

Day 3 commenced with the leadership lessons from Bhagavad Gita and Mahabarata by Master Avi Sharma, followed by Poster Making by various groups. This day was filled with adventure activities such as flying squirrel, target jump, wall climbing, commando net, zip lining, land roller, friendship ladder etc and these activities left the delegates with a gush of excitement and peals of laughter.  Next came the Cultural Evening where the girls of RKK gave a mesmerising performance of Rajasthani Folk Dance.  The adventurous day ended with much awaited Principal’s Dinner – ‘Shab-e-Malwa’ where Conference Statement was signed by the participants.

Democracy is the right to choose and all these days the participants learned how to voice their opinions and create a change by taking charge and making their voices heard. A Civic Walk was organised on Day 4 starting from Daly College to the Commissioner of Indore’s office. The procession had Poster Carriers, Horse Riders, Cyclists, Skaters, Floats, children dressed as politicians and delegates from each and every school with their flags with recurring slogans for making effective changes in the country. It was a sight to behold that the ‘Children of the world’ are ready to take charge and create a change for a better future. Post the civic walk, the Closing Ceremony was held where Chief Guest  Mr. Matthew Rowan O’Brien, Head of School, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, Australia declared the RS Conference officially closed and also motivated children so that they can become leaders of tomorrow.
