THE EMERALD HEIGHTS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, INDORE (EHKCA’23)


The Emerald Heights International School, Indore invited RKK to participate in their second edition of the Emerald Heights Knowledge Convergence Arc from 27th to 29th January 2023. This Inter School event, celebrate the nurturing legacy of their late founder and provided a platform to students’ voices. The event was held virtually and included Multi-Format English Debate – Words of Empathy, General Quiz – Enquire, Creative Writing – Enunciate and Story Telling – Elucidate.  

A team of three delegates-Stuti Arya, Varalika Sharma and Nikita Vijayan represented RKK in the Multi-Format English Debate. They were each able to showcase their varied set of skills in the preliminary round by participating in the extempore, bridge and turncoat rounds respectively. Their cumulative scores enabled them to progress into the Semi-Final Round. From here on forth, they worked as a team to corroborate their information in a limited amount of time and present their views in front of the judges and fellow competitors. They competed against three other schools in the Final round. For the Finals, Stuti Arya and Varalika Sharma opposed the motion, “The 21st Century of Democracy is veering dangerously close to Mobocracy”. Nikita faced the Block and Tackle round wherein her topic was “IPL is not real cricket”. Students participated in all three rounds of the competition which happened in succession to one another making the day hectic but quite eventful.

The hard work of the debating team under the guidance of their Teacher Trainer –Mrs Reshma Bhattacherjee in the end paid off as they won Second Overall in the competition. Furthermore, Stuti Arya won ‘Most Promising Speaker’ in the Extempore Round and Varalika Sharma won ‘Best Speaker’ in the Final round. However, the biggest win was the amount of knowledge participants were able to gain in a single day and the way they reinforced the fundamentals of teamwork, listening skills and overall hone their speaking skills. The whole experience of participating in  competitions through the platform of zoom was lively, interactive and incredibly educating. Saanvi Jain of Class V beautifully trained by Mrs Manju Singh won the laurels of the 'Judge's Choice Award for Storytelling'. The General Quiz team was trained by Mr Kamlesh Kumar. Creative Writing team worked under the guidance of Ms Awanesh Sharma.  

RKK’s participants were - Soumya Jain - XI B* (Quiz), Kanishka Rathore - XI C*  (Quiz), Varalika Sharma - XI D (Bridge), Nikita Vijayan - XI B (Turncoat), Stuti Arya - XI A (Extempore), Saanvi Jain - V B (Storytelling), Pankhuri Sharma - VII B (Poetry) and Chelsy Ratanu - VII A (Prose).
