When people from different cultures meet and come together the result is often acculturation. It helps you to accept people from different cultures and ethnicities for their uniqueness and shows how to practice beliefs different from yours.
This is what the
AFS Inter Cultural Exchange Program with The Punjab Public School, Nabha from 23rd to 30th January 2023 was all about. A team from PPS was hosted by RKKGPS in November and this was our time to explore the plethora of fun and learning that the culture of Punjab offered us.
A team of 15 students of Class IX - Sunehari Birla, Suhani Birla, Divya Luniya, Sneha Singh Nathawat, Dhruvi Gupta, Navya Jain, Suhani Lodha, Laxmi Bishnoi, Yuvika Jangid, Divisha Jain, Aarushi Gehlot, Toran Solani, Dhratika Cchangani, Sneha Singh and Diksha Golecha with Teacher Escorts, Ms Elizabeth Vincent and Mr. Vipul Prajapat represented RKKGPS to learn and explore the new culture, tradition, and heritage of Punjab.
The Opening Ceremony was held on the auspicious day of Republic day followed by a Ghoomar performance by our students. The Headmaster of The Punjab Public School, Nabha addressed the gathering and briefed about what the AFS exchange program was all about. There were many fun-filled activities arranged in the itinerary like Ice-Breaking Session, Tie-and-Die Workshop, Robotic Workshop, Phulkari Art Workshop and Cycling among the beautiful scenic beauty of the fields in the local area were all very well planned. Students also visited the local bazaar at Patiala followed by a sumptuous meal. Our visit to Chandigarh and Nanoki Pind left students spellbound by the natural beauty. They were completely awestruck by the scenic beauty and serenity of the Gurudwara which truly reflected the Punjabi culture. Students also visited the Preet Automobile Industry, which was very informative and influential. On the last day, participants were facilitated with certificates and they shared their experiences and feedback.
