THE DALY COLLEGE, INDORE (IPSC STUDENT'S CONCLAVE)

The IPSC Students’ Leadership Conclave, LEAP- Leadership, Excellence, through Awareness and Perseverance, that commenced at The Daly College from Nov. 9, 2022 with enthusiastic hearts. Present and prospective student leaders of 18 prestigious IPSC schools from across the country had participated. The Ice Breaking session included games like: two truths and a lie and a tug of war, after which the young leaders proceeded to sit beside the Desai Lake and engage in a conversation with the Principal, Dr. Gunmeet  Bindra. The prelude ended with a lively group discussion on challenges faced as leaders and the solutions along with anticipatory activities for the following day.

RKK’s participants were Nikita Vijayan, Udita Singh, Diksha Rajpurohit, Nehal Gehlot, Sheetal Johari, Jaya Sankhla and Soumya Joshi with their Teacher Escort Mrs Reshma Bhattacharjee. The Opening Ceremony on the second day left everyone spell-bound! A brilliant rendition by the School Music Band and an invigorating Dance Drama set the Conclave on fire. However, it was the Chief Guest, Professor Anil Srinivasan, an internationally awarded Musician, and an entrepreneur, whose intellectually stimulating discussions, mesmerising oration coupled with quick wit and humour and enchanting renditions on the keyboard, captivated the audience and left us wanting for more. The major takeaways from his session were: “The only race we are in, should be with our ownselves”, “We are all perfect”, “We have already won” and “It is only about self-discovery”.

The Keynote address was followed by a talk on Emotional Resilience, by a brilliant psychiatrist, Dr. Kiran Shandilya who conducted exercises on differences between leaders and bosses and spoke about how the mind and body go hand in hand.

This led to another interactive session by Dr. Gunmeet Bindra, Principal, Daly College, wherein delegates rated 10 different world leaders while analyzing their capabilities and contributions as a leader.  Then there was the Big Fight in which the representatives from all the 18 schools debated on various topics related to leadership . The evening ended with the “Shab-e-Malwa” Principal’s Dinner, which started off with a very challenging activity, Walking on Fire, led by Brig. Trigunesh Mukherjee, an educationist par excellence.

After a pleasant morning with the Bhairavi Breakfast near the Desai Lake, Day 3 commenced with the delegates participating in some outdoor activities and games conducted by Brigadier Trigunesh Mukherjee and his team. Through these activities, the delegates learnt  that despite the challenges ,they can route a strong course and come out on top with the right tact, skill and communication and that every member of a team counts. Thereafter, the delegates immersed themselves into some water activities at the swimming pool which induced team work and critical thinking skills.

The afternoon was made interesting by a fun filled team building activity called 'Let it Roll'. The student leaders were divided into 10 groups of 13, and tasked with building a miniature roller coaster. Though seemingly a daunting task at first, through team work, collaboration, and a little mathematics, the participants eventually succeeded by distributing work.

The day came to a close with the students dancing to their heart’s content followed by scrumptious delicacies.

With the morning of the final/fourth day of the LEAP, came many captivating leadership nuggets by wildlife enthusiasts - Dr. Satish Pande, Mr. Dev Kumar Vasudevan, Padma Shri awardee, Mr. Bhalu Monde, Mr. Abhilash Khandekar and Mr. Nihar Parulekar. Each session left everyone enriched. They spoke about how through Nature, one can incorporate leadership skills. The session with Mr Parulekar was most captivating as his session ended with many students enthusiastically gathering on stage to touch and handle the iguanas and snakes his team had brought along! This segment was followed by Prefect-X - Mandarin’s Musings, wherein one school representative delivered a three minute, Ted-X style talk on their takeaways from the conference.

The Closing Ceremony was held on the same day. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was the acclaimed actress Tisca Chopra. The Closing Ceremony incorporated an  incredible dance performance by the DC dancers. The delegates went down the memory lane as they saw the snapshots of the last four days being strung into a short video.

The perfect conclusion to the Conclave was the Chief Guest’s Address where Ma’am Tisca Chopra highlighted the fact that every human is like a snowflake, different in his/her own way and it is this difference that defines him/her. With this, the IPSC Students’ Leadership Conclave - LEAP-2022 came to a successful end. The participants waved their goodbyes while taking back precious friendships, memories and knowledge that would take them a long way in life.
