An enlightening Workshop was conducted for teachers of Classes Nursery to XII by Mr Yatheesh Kasaragod in two slots on 12th March 2022. It started with an introduction to Art and how artistic skills can be nurtured by laying the foundation between the age of 2 to 9 years. The various mediums of Art were discussed along with importance of integrating Art across the curriculum.
Several examples and activities were shared to reinforce the same. The relationship of Art with Science, Mathematics and other subjects were focused on. Examples of how concepts of geometrical shapes, space and distance, perspective, vanishing point etc. can be integrated were discussed. The relationship between colours, hues, tones and light effects as well as chemicals with printmaking were brought up.
The Workshop gave a deeper insight into how Art can be used as a key to understand concepts in any subject of the curriculum. Unifying concepts as well as different meaningful activities connecting a person to real life were shared which equipped the teachers with various strategies and creative pedagogies for their future planning.
