ANNUAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2022 - RS COLLABORATION

“Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things.”

On 18th February 2022, The British School, New Delhi gave the Round Square schools a chance to innovate, invent and explore through the Annual Science Exhibition 2022 – ‘Explora’. The seminar was based on the theme of exploring the role of science in achieving Sustainable Development Goals. The event gave an opportunity to learn more about the Sustainable Goals of the United Nations which is a collection of 17 interlinked Global Goals designed to be a “Blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. Students were expected to apply scientific methods in suggesting solutions or solving problems to meet the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was witnessed by 15 Round Square Schools across national and international communities. The young scientists across middle years presented their findings and models. All the models made by different teams were displayed on 18th February in the form of a video. The 4 INNO ~ WAVE ~ TORS of Team RKK comprised Pari Salecha, Piya Salecha, Adwitiya Saxena and Reet Mehta with their Teacher Incharge – Ms Perminder Meena. The team chose the ‘7th – Affordable and Clean Energy’ and the ‘9th – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’ SDG and planned to find solutions and solving problems to meet the above two goals. They realised that as the world is moving away from its reliance or non – renewable energy sources, new and innovative ways for energy generation can be discovered which will have a minimal impact on the surrounding environments and communities. In their project, INNO ~ WAVE ~ TION they proposed a technology that can capture energy from waves and tides and created an ocean bed with a light house standing tall on its right side and surrounded by several tidal turbines. On the left side was displayed a scale model and a working model of tidal turbine that supported the explanation. Team RKK explained the construction and working of the model in detail and presented a plethora of advantages that make this technology unique. It was an incredible journey since the commencement of the event witnessed an engrossing, fulfilling and blazing evening of bright minds sharing their scientific innovations. The event proved to be very informative and knowledge enriching. The competition provided yet another wonderful opportunity to the students of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ School to represent their school on a global platform, thereby expanding their knowledge, helping them to explore new skills and seek opportunities to excel beyond academics.
