Teachers Workshops

SESSION BY THE EMERALD HEIGHTS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, INDORE

Good teachers become great teachers by going beyond the call of their duty and beyond curriculum, classroom and textbooks. There are workshops to continue their education and truly master the practice.

More than 75 percent of people are suffering from mental disorders and the students are affected the worst due to social isolation. Due to this pandemic students are feeling too depressed. It becomes the duty of teachers to help them out in this difficult time.

A Session on Preventing Mental Health Problems in School Children was hosted by The Emerald Heights International School, Indore, Madhya Pradesh on 6th October 2021 presided by Dr VS Ravindran who in his presentation emphasized on how to tackle the Mental Health of school children. He mentioned that objective of the teachers should not be to complete the syllabus but to understand their problems and create a bond with them. Parents should be aware regarding the fact that mobile phones cannot be separated from their child. This is their necessity during this time but is also important to keep an eye on their children about the usages of the phone. He heavily touched upon the point that the counselling of parents is more required than the students. If a teacher notices any change in the behavior of the student, then the teacher should talk to the parents and they both need to consult the school counsellor in order to help the child.  He even suggested that parents should not have high expectations from their child because and if the child is not able to fulfil their expectations then they are blamed by them. It is important that parents get rid of this habit so that the mental health of the child does not get affected.

This session by Dr VS Ravindran helped the Educators- Mrs Seema Baxi, Mrs Neeta Johari, Mrs Gulab Kanwar and Ms Aashna Jain of RKK to immerse themselves in a new and current learning to better their lives and education of their students.
