WORLD MENTAL HEALTH COLLABORATION INSPIRED BY ROUND SQUARE (THE DOON SCHOOL, DEHRADUN AND THE BRITISH OVERSEAS SCHOOL, PAKISTAN)


 ‘A child’s mental health is just as important as their physical health and deserves the same quality of support’ ~ Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

On the 9th October 2021, six students - Ditya Lohiya, Hamisha Sunny Udhani, Bhavi Kumbhat, Aditi Charan, Mumal Deora and Gauri Baxi of Class XI and Teacher Incharge, Ms Shreshtha Singhal participated in the World Mental Health Collaboration hosted by The Doon School, Dehradun and The British Overseas School, Pakistan, on the theme of “Mental Health in an Unequal World”.

The event had over 225 delegates from 35 schools in 6 countries; India, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Oman, Jordan and Thailand.

The Conference began with an address by the Principals of The Doon School and The British Overseas School. This was followed by the Keynote Speakers address where Dr Kimberly Kendall spoke about Schizophrenia and its meaning, types, symptoms and cures.

The participant were then sorted into Barazza sessions having themes: Mind or Marathon, Frame of Mind, Mending Mindsets, Constitutional Well-Being, Can Money Buy you Happiness?, Mental Health: Your Parents Fault?, Barriers to Therapy and The Stigma Free Zone.

The Barazza sessions concluded with each group coming up with their own resolutions for their respective themes.

This Conference helped the delegates to learn more about their own mental well-being and understand the importance and need of mental well being with physical well being.
