MARIA'S PUBLIC SCHOOL, GUWAHATI (RS COLLABORATIVE PROJECT & CELEBRATION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY)

Keeping this in mind Maria's Public School, Guwahati, Assam India hosted an event for the celebration of World Environment Day  - " Restore our ecosystem " on 5th and 6th June 2021.

 The enthusiast participants from RKK were Ayushi Malani, Khushboo Vyas, Lauren, Satakshi Sakti and Manasvi Salecha and their Teacher Incharge, Mrs Sapna Gupta. On the 1st Day of the event after the Opening Ceremony by Mrs. Nellie Ahmed (Honourable Founder & Managing Trustee , Maria's Public School) and  Mrs.Mausami Mahanta (Principal) eminent Plenary Speakers, Mr. Sean Southey, (Chairperson, IUCN-CEC) and Mr. Chris Jordon (Filmmaker Photographer, Artist) addressed the participants about the most trending topic 'Environment  Conservation  Restoration and Climate Change'. Further a group discussion on the topic - 'It is time to change our thinking and practices for ecosystem restoration - The Choice is Ours' took place.

On the second day there were 2 sessions :

Part 1-  ( 2pm to 3 pm)  in which Jadav Payeng, an environmental activist and forestry worker from Majuli, popularly known as the Forest Man of India shared his life story.

Part 2 -  (5pm to 7 pm ) in which renowned speakers shared their experiences about their life and work.

First speaker was Dr Anwaruddin Chowdhury (Environmentalist and Conservationist from Assam).

Next Speaker was Katy Perry (nature educator from usa). Lastly, the Collaborative Project entitled - 'Glides & Dives: Soaring to the End of the World', inspired by the Round Square IDEALs was show cased in which collaborative schools GGS, VDJS , SKV, MPS presented their activities. What a perfect day to discuss about the environmental crisis on the world environment 's day. Truly an enriching experience for all the students.
