SAI International School, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organised The Global Conference on ‘Mental Health’ on 15th November 2020

8 students of RKKGPS- Sana Kakkar, Sanika Kakkar, Ridhima Khajanchi, Sheetal Johari, Kratika Singhvi, Khushboo Vyas and Kashish Golani participated in the Conference with a zealous thirst for learning. Students from countries across the globe participated in this event through Zoom call.

The global event inaugurated with the Opening Ceremony in which the day’s first Keynote Speaker, Dr. Harish Shetty, a renowned physiologist in the field of mental health talked about becoming a Mental Health Warrior. He also talked about the power of connecting with people and also helping those who are mentally disturbed.

After the enlightening interaction with the Keynote Speaker followed the lunch and the participants  had to join their Barraza Sessions at the scheduled time  which were allotted to them beforehand . These Barraza sessions talked about various mental health issues where the students interacted with the youth across the globe, shared their experiences and learned a lot of new things about mental health which would really help them in their near future. The Barazza Sessions also included various fun filled games that created an aura filled with thrill ,excitement and enthusiasm.

The ideas discussed in the Barazza Sessions were then amalgamated and presented in a joint session with the members of all the groups. The Closing Ceremony began with graceful dance performances of the participants from different schools. This was further accompanied by the enlightening words by the second Keynote Speaker of the  day, Dr. Sriya Bhattachatya, who spoke about her experience in New york at the time of breakout of Covid-19 and how it effected her community as the centre of the pandemic in the USA. Further more, Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, the Chairman of SAI International School illuminated  the participants on how to bring happiness in their homes.

The virtual Global Conference came to an end with the cultural performances executed by the students of the remaining participating schools. It was a good platform to learn about  mental health, mental illness and how to deal with these issues without hesitation. The students were motivated and boosted with enthusiasm in spreading awareness about these issues and to broach them throughout the world.
