Cocurricular - Activities during Lockdown

ROUND SQUARE CONFERENCE – THE MILLENIUM SCHOOL, DUBAI


A Round Square Conference was hosted by The Millenium School, Dubai, on the virtual platform, Zoom on 28th and 29th of Oct. The theme of the Conference was ‘Transition to Accelerating Sustainability’. The Conference started with National Anthem followed by a prayer. Mrs Ambika Gulati, Principal of The Millenium School, addressed the gathering.

A video presentation on Millenium School described their Round Square ideals,    activities and events. Students from different countries shared their culture and lives with each other. The Primary School Choir - ‘This is our home’ and ‘This is our Earth’ were  melodiously sung. Guests of Honour were Ms Fatima Mubarak Ismail, a dedicated Specialist in Environmental Science & Sustainability and Mr Michael Guzden, Vice President of GEMS Education. Keynote Speaker, Dr Bhaskar Vira, Head of Geography Department University of Cambridge, highlighted on food security, climate change, sustainability   challenge, water security, planetary boundaries in his presentation on the topic ‘Accelerating the Transition to Sustainability’.  

On the 2nd day, the Conference started with an overview of the 1st day’s events. It was followed by the presentation on the theme by the Keynote Speaker, Ms Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson - Emirates Environmentalist Group. She highlighted and talked about Recycling and Afforestation - their issues, benefits, importance, facts and statistics. Mr Robert Swan shared a presentation on his journey to the South Pole.  The Barraza sessions had discussion about the hardships & struggle faced by Mr Robert in his life  and how a small change can bring a large impact in the world.  Guest of honour for the Closing Ceremony, Ms Rajbhir Sandhu, Round Square Schools’ Support Director of South Asia and Gulf.

The Conference was very informative and enriching that instilled the participants of RKK, Nehal Gehlot, Aadyaa Vivek, Suhani Baheti, Bhumika Ayani, Ridhima Kajanchi and Udita Singh with Teacher in charge Mrs Shreshtha Singhal with a sense of awareness, responsibility, priority and commitment to Save Mother Earth.
