HPS, BEGUMPET (RS POST CARD ZOOM CALL) : ‘LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE’

Round Square Postcard  Call on the topic ‘Let Food be thy Medicine’ was organised by The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet on 16th September 2020.  Thirteen elite national and international member schools of RS from India, New York, Tokyo, London, Cape Town and Arusha participated in this prestigious event which started with the Introduction.  The organisers then explained the participants about healthy meals and the diseases  caused because of the lack of nutrients. This was a very informative session where the discussion was on healthy eating and ways to improve our health, immunity and wellbeing through the foods that we cook and eat. The students learned about the necessary vitamins and nutrients needed for a human body.  All the participants explained their favourite healthy meal or food item. Some of the food items discussed were Chilra, Poha, Khichdi, Fruits, spices and  many other healthy meals. Students discussed the benefits and the nutrients present in their selected item.

Dr. Nida Fatima Hazari, a nutritionist, explained to the students about  the benefits and types of functional food . Students learned about Probiotic food, Prebiotic food and Modified food. This session was enriching as the participants learnt  about the food they should consume. Dr. Nida addressed the doubts  and queries of the participants about various food items and briefed about a healthy daily routine for teenagers.   After a session of 90 minutes the Postcard  call was over but the participants were enlightened by sharing with each other  their favourite  healthy meal idea, magic ingredients, superfood tips or recipe.

They clearly understood that medicine is not healthcare. Food is health care. Medicine is sick care. It’s time to understand and realise that Healthy food can be the most powerful and safest medicine.

Nehal Gehlot, Suhani Baheti, Ridhima Khajanchi, Aadyaa Vivek and Teacher In charge Mrs Swati Chouhan from RKK availed the opportunity of making a difference in their lives by eliminating  wrong food habits and inculcating  wise ones.

The objective behind this small program was that all participants should benefit and stay healthy by making right choices of food.
