ASIAN PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE COMPETITION (DEBFEST)

It was an Asian Parliamentary Debate Competition - 'Debfest' that took place from 3rd July to 5th July.

13 participants  from RKK, Nehal Gehlot, Jaya Sankhala, Sheetal Johari, Shruti Rathi, Deepshikha Potaliya, Nandini Shaktawat, Disha Shrivastava, Suhani Singhvi, Naaz Sherawat, Ashmi Shrimali, Suhani Baheti, Divya Vishnoi and Eva were asked to join a WhatsApp group as soon as their registration  was confirmed. Students were requested to form teams of   three debaters  each . Later they were provided with four topics to speak  at random.

Topics included:

THBT ALL FASHION SHOULD BE GENDER-NEUTRAL.

THB IN EUTHENASIA.

THB IN CENSORSHIP.

THBT FEMINISM IS OUTDATED IN 21ST CENTURY.

After the allotment of these topics two days were given for preparation.  Time slots for  debates were also allotted. RKKians debated  in the first round on 3rd July and the topic for the motion  was,  'This house believes that fashion should be gender-neutral.' Students  qualified for the 2nd round and topic  to them was provided one and a half hour prior to the event. Though  RKKians were not able to make it to the finals  but  they   managed to  learn a lot many nuances and technicalities of fierce  debating by  pushing  themselves out of their comfort zones. Moreover, they  were able to boost their confidence and faith in themselves. In addition, debating against Rajasvi Deora, an alumna of RKK was also a pleasant experience.
